1440 NW Hoyt - Creative Office

1440 NW Hoyt - Creative Office

Portland, OR

2014 - 2016 (unbuilt)

Project Description :  The 1440 NW Hoyt redevelopment was a renovation of an existing concrete warehouse with a new 4-story addition above, providing 75,000 sf of Class A office space at the edge of the Pearl District. Openings at the existing base building were to be enlarged to create greater connection with the street and pedestrian activity, as well as allow natural light deeper into the building. The new addition was designed with exposed heavy timber further reinforcing the industrial character, while also providing warmth of material to the tenant spaces. The large open floor plates provided maximum flexibility for tenants. In addition to providing access to all tenant spaces, the new lobby was a community gathering space with a gallery, a coffee kiosk, and informal places to work.

Project Role :  Project Architect, coordinated allied consultants, developed unique detailing of the exposed fire rated wood structure. Led project from schematic design through Building Permit.
